Dog Birthday Banana Peanut Butter Cake
15 mins prepServes 1
A homemade, dog-friendly cake recipe for a pet's first birthday, featuring mashed bananas, natural peanut butter, eggs, and whole wheat flour, topped with a simple Greek yogurt and peanut butter frosting.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a small cake pan, ramekin, or muffin tin.
In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas and stir in peanut butter, egg, and pumpkin.
Add flour (add slowly to make sure you don’t thicken your cake too much) and baking powder, mixing until just combined. Fold in carrot and blueberries.
Spoon your batter into your prepared pan and bake for about 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool completely - (the author suggests putting it in the fridge for an hour). Mix the yogurt and peanut butter for frosting and throw into a piping bag, if you wish.
Spread frosting over the cooled cake with a piping bag or a spoon. Decorate with dog treats, fruit, and a candle on top.
NOTE — the author froze the cake up until serving it so that it would be a little harder for her to eat (mental enrichment!) so this way she wasn’t able to fully body the whole thing.
